Fraction Modeler is a stand-alone executable program that uses number lines and circles to model the operations on fractions. A database program is installed with Fraction Modeler that lets you keep track of student progress.
The program is run directly from your hard drive without a browser or the internet.
The following picture of the Divide Circles
program shows how many divisor size chunks fit into the dividend.
The explanation below the picture will appear if the <Explain> button has been pressed.
Other features include:
- The <Reset> button will set both
the Attempted Examples and Correct Examples numbers to zero (0),
allowing a student to redo a procedure.
- Context sensitive help by simply pressing the <F1> key.
- By selecting <Yes> Under <File/Automatic...> the student will allow Fraction Modeler to automatically proceed through the sequence of operations. The student can choose the number of examples for each procedure, the operation to begin with, and select whether or not to let the program reset the number of examples and score to 0 if the answer is incorrect. The following is the <Automatic..> dialog box.

- The student will be allowed to enter his/her
name under a <File/New Student> menu choice. Student progress
can be saved on the hard drive, allowing the student to continue
at some other time.
- The Report Card button will bring up a
bar graph that shows student progress. The report card can be
printed. Notice the student name on the report card. An example
of this reporting program can be seen on this screen shot:
